NEB Media Coaches' Clinic Lineup

The first annual NEB Media Coaches' Clinic is being held April 8th-9th at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, TN. This clinic will feature live, on-court demonstrations featuring some of the top head coaches, and rising stars, in college basketball.

The clinic will begin on April 8th. The first session beginning at 9 AM and finishing at 1 PM. We will have a two hour lunch break from 1-3 PM. There will be a hospitality room available with snacks and drinks. The second session will begin at 3 PM and finish at 7 PM. The final session will begin at 8 AM on April 9th and will complete at noon.

The following is a brief summary of what to expect from the college coaches at the clinic.

Rick Insell (Middle Tennessee State University)

Coach Insell has been the head coach at MTSU for 12 years, and is the winningest head coach in the program's history. Prior to becoming the head coach at MTSU, Coach Insell coached at Shelbyville Central where he won 775 games, 10 state championships, and a Tennessee record of 110 straight games. Coach Insell was inducted into the WBCA Women's Basketball Hall of Fame this year. Coach Insell will share his insight on "Defining Your Coaching Legacy" at this year's clinic.

Holly Warlick (University of Tennessee)

Coach Warlick has been the head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols since 2012. Prior to her promotion to head coach, she spent 27 years as an assistant under legendary coach Pat Summit. Coach Warlick was named the WBCA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2007 and has won over 125 games in her time as the head coach for the Lady Vols. She will be speaking on competitive drills at the clinic.

Jeff Walz (University of Louisville)

Coach Walz is currently in his tenth season as the head coach of the University of Louisville. Coach Walz has amassed a 74% win rate, which includes two appearances in the NCAA National Championship. In 2008, Coach Walz won the Maggie Dixon award, an award given to the top first-year head coach in the country. Coach Walz will speak on "quick hitter" plays and offense at the NEB Media Coaches' Clinic.

Stephanie Norman (University of Louisville)

Coach Norman is in her fifth season as the associate head coach of the Louisville Cardinals. Prior to being named the associate head coach, she was an assistant at Vanderbilt University, Oregon State University, the University of Oregon, and the University of Hawaii. Coach Norman specializes in post player development and regularly produces inside players who compete in professional basketball. Norman will share her insight on post player development at the clinic.

Matt Insell (Ole Miss)

Coach Matt Insell, son of Rick Insell, is in his fourth season at Ole Miss. During his short tenure, he has accumulated over 70 wins. Before taking his first head coaching job at Ole Miss, Insell was an assistant at the University of Kentucky and was known nationally as one of the top recruiters in women's basketball. Coach Insell will speak on "the process" at the Coaches' Clinic on April 9th.

Stephanie White (Vanderbilt University)

Coach Stephanie White just completed her first year at Vanderbilt and is looking to rebuild the program and create a national power. Before Coach White took the job at Vanderbilt, she was the assistant and eventually head coach of the Indiana Fever, leading the team to a WNBA championship in 2012. Coach White also spent time in the league as a player playing for the Charlotte Sting and Fever. Coach White will speak on transition offense at the clinic.

Melissa McFerrin (University of Memphis)

Coach McFerrin is currently in her ninth season as the head coach of the University of Memphis Tigers. In her time at Memphis, McFerrin has won nearly 150 games, including a Patriot League Championship and was also recently named the Patriot League Coach of the Year. McFerrin also spent time in the WNBA as an assistant with the New York Liberty and Washington Mystics. Coach McFerrin will speak on zone/trap defense.

Brittney Ezell (East Tennessee State University)

Coach Ezell is currently in her fourth season as the head coach of ETSU. As a head coach, Ezell is known for successfully rebuilding programs and leading them to newfound successes. Ezell has won 180 games in her time as a head coach. Before coming to ETSU, Ezell spent 3 seasons at Belmont as the head coach and 5 years as an assistant at Alabama. Coach Ezell will speak on building culture.

Cameron Newbauer (Belmont University)

Coach Newbauer is one of the top rising head coaches in women's basketball. Newbauer, currently in his fourth season as the head coach at Belmont University, has already won two conference titles and achieved a 16-0 conference record this season. Newbauer gained experience as an assistant coach under legendary coach Andy Landers and current Louisville coach Jeff Walz. Coach Newbauer will speak on skill development.

David Midlick (Austin Peay State University)

Coach Midlick is in his first season as the head coach of the Austin Peay Lady Govs. Midlick was previously an associate head coach for Melissa McFerrin and Memphis. Prior to that stint, Midlick was the head coach for NCAA Division II, Delta State. Midlick won multiple conference titles in his time there relying on defensive intensity as his trademark. Coach Midlick will speak on full court/half court defensive principles.

Chris Nelson (Bethel University)

Coach Nelson is in his 11th season as the head coach of NAIA power, Bethel University. Nelson has won over 220 games at the helm for this program. He has been named conference coach of the year in the TranSouth and SSAC in multiple years. Nelson experienced his best season as a head coach in 2015, going 32-4 for the season and 18-0 in conference play. Nelson will speak on out of bounds plays at this year's clinic.
