Dandra Thomas Invitational

The month of December consist of many national tournaments around the country. On Saturday, NEB Media went to Conway Arkansas to cover the Dandra Thomas Invitational at Conway High School. The event featured all Arkansas teams featuring some of the elite talent locally as well as nationally. Despite the first game being cancelled on Saturday, the following three games each had something to offer.

The following is a recap of each team that participated in the event that had players worth of note.

Conway High School (Conway, AR)

Conway was a very impressive team that had tons of talent. The first player that stood out to me was uncommitted '17 Fu'tra Banks. Banks was all over the court offensively and defensively. Only at 5'8, she showcased a versatile skill-set playing on the perimeter and on the block. Banks is a solid D-1 guard that any school would love to have. Banks had help at the guard spot from Arkansas Tech signee, Jacie Higgins. Higgins was a serious 3-point threat, and also showcased solid handles throughout the game. Arkansas Tech got another nice signee in Higgins. I also came away impressed with uncommitted '17 guard Savannah Lowe as well as '19 guard Asiyha Smith.

North Little Rock High School (Little Rock, AR)

North Little Rock came away from the tournament with the championship trophy as they defeated Conway by 1. North Little Rock has a host of players for every level that are all equally impressive. Yo'Myris Morris played an outstanding game blocking shots, scoring baskets, and coming up big in big moments. Morris continues to prove to be that she has the capability of playing at the BCS level. North Little Rock also has several guards who are all impressive. '17 Mackenzie Tillman and '18 Amber Hawkison along with '19's Jordyn Neal, Demyla Brown, and Kennady Tucker all played a solid game and proved to have D-1 capability.

Central Arkansas Christian (Little Rock, AR)

CAC had the top prospect of the tournament in '18 Christyn Williams. Williams did her usual running the offense, scoring when needed, and playing high level basketball. I become a fan of Williams the more I continue to watch her. On this day, she drew the attention of Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey as well as assistant coach Sytia Messer who were in attendance. I was also impressed with the play of '18 Jenna Davis. Davis played a solid game knocking down shots from all three levels on the floor. CAC also had another college level prospect in '17 Lauren Peoples.

Hot Springs High School (Hot Springs, AR)

Hot Springs was an athletic group that featured some nice play from uncommitted '17 Keyneso Hunter as well as '18 G Ariana Guinn and '19 G Kiah Beauford. Hunter was an athletic forward who had the most upside out of the trio. She had an impressive athletic ability to go along with a raw but promising skill set. All three are solid NAIA prospects in the right system.
